What Is Counseling?
Counseling services allow you to understand and resolve the underlying issues that can cause mental health issues and other problematic behaviors. Through counseling, you are able to discuss your problems with a non-judgmental, objective listener with the training necessary to assist you in viewing your struggles differently and developing creative solutions. Although counselors cannot solve your problems, they can help and guide you through the process.
How Do I Know If Counseling Is for Me?
You may wonder whether discussing your concerns with a counselor would be appropriate. The truth is you don’t need to struggle with an issue to find the benefits of talking with one. Sometimes it is just a matter of being able to speak to an independent, objective party that can help you better understand where your life is and where you want it to go. So, whether you find yourself struggling with a mental health or emotional concern, or simply want to clear out some of the feelings in your head, an appointment with a counselor is a smart idea.
Are Counseling Sessions Confidential?
Yes! You should be able to feel free to share your thoughts, feelings, and emotions with your counselor, and that can only happen if you know that everything you say will be held with the utmost confidentiality. No information you share with a counselor will be exchanged unless you provide explicit consent.
